Who is Kamela Harris?
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California. She is currently the Vice President of the United States. A Vice President (VP) is the second most important person in the US government. If the President is absent or something happens, she takes over all important tasks. She is also the President of the Senate and can cast the deciding vote on important issues. And that's really special because she's the first woman, the first African-American, and the first person of South Asian descent to hold that position. Isn't that cool?
Kamala Harris and the elections
Kamala Harris has seen and done a lot. Before becoming vice president, she was California's attorney general and then a senator. In the 2020 elections, she supported Joe Biden very well and helped them win. Her speeches and debates were really strong and she was able to convince a lot of people.
Now, in 2024, she is running herself. And against Donald Trump. In my opinion, Kamala should definitely win for many reasons. I will explain them below.

Political Views of Kamala Harris
- Criminal Justice Reform: Kamala used to be a prosecutor and is familiar with the issue. She wants to see a fairer criminal justice system and fewer people in prison unnecessarily.
- Environmental Policy: Kamala is strongly opposed to climate change and supports the Green New Deal. This is a plan to protect the environment and promote clean energy. She wants more reliance on renewable energy such as wind and solar and less on fossil fuels such as coal and oil.
- Healthcare: She wants all people to have access to good medical care. To this end, she is committed to Medicare for All, a plan to improve the healthcare system for everyone.
- Immigration: She is in favor of a fair and humane immigration policy. She opposes the separation of families and supports young immigrants who came to the US as children.
- Education: Kamala believes that everyone should have access to a good and affordable education. She wants to make college affordable for all.
My Opinion on This:
I think Kamala Harris should definitely win the election because, let's be honest, Donald Trump would be a really bad president because he's constantly turning people against each other and often says really offensive things. He's treated minorities and immigrants badly and hasn't really cared about science, especially with COVID-19. Kamala Harris is much cooler: she stands up for diversity and justice, fights for climate protection, and wants everyone to have access to good healthcare. She also brings a lot of experience and shows real empathy, which is super important for a better future for us all.
But nobody is perfect, and Kamala Harris also has some not-so-good qualities. Finding them was harder than I thought. I want real bad qualities, not the ones that Trump is accusing her of. The most crucial thing I found was that she sometimes expresses herself awkwardly and often changes her political opinions. But that's understandable because times change too. Otherwise, you quickly run the risk of becoming conservative, like Trump, and we don't want that, do we?
